Is Training in NLP the Right Choice?

If you are thinking of learning German, then your best option may be to learn German online. Learning online gives you many advantages such as saving you plenty of time, resources and money. However, online classes give you little chance or opportunity to practice what you are learning. Here are some ways you can work your way towards better studies.

Understand the 80/20 principle
Many studies indicate that 80% of the mistakes a student makes when learning a new language are due to 20% misunderstanding of the structural rules of the language. This means that such a small misinterpretation of the structural rules can lead to huge mistakes. Use your study material to pinpoint mistakes that often occur. Use this information to create a colorful chart containing the cardinal rules of the language and a few examples. Once you do this, your subconscious will memorize the rules and alert you when you are about to make a mistake.

Talk to yourself
You may realize that when an opportunity presents itself for you to speak German, you become self-conscious especially if you are a beginner. You can alleviate this feeling by practicing regularly by talking to yourself when you are alone in your house or your room. Your inhibitions will disappear as time goes by and you will feel confident speaking German whenever the chance comes up. It helps to keep in memory the article of the noun each time you repeat a vocabulary. For instance, it is of little use if you know the German equivalent for chair, when you do not know the gender of the noun. To improve on this, you should try pretending the article is a fixed part of that word.
Take a break
The saying practice makes perfect is true, but that does not mean you should spend countless hours memorizing a list of vocabularies and going over them again. Too much of something is unproductive. If you find yourself not getting anything after an entire afternoon of memorizing vocabularies, it may be a sign that you need to take a break, and pick it up from there, next time. Research shows that it is much more effective to spend shorter periods on learning vocabulary than dedicating the whole morning or afternoon trying to memorize them in your head. Nevertheless, do not avoid the German language. Go searching for avenues that you can practice your German such as a cultural center, theaters or library.
